Description

Olea oleaster is the wild variety of the well-known olive tree native to the Mediterranean region. The wild form is smaller and, in contrast to the cultivated form, grows more like a bush with very irregular branching. The olives and leaves are also much smaller than those of the cultivated variety. Both varieties love a warm climate and do not tolerate frost. Olea Sylvestris is also popular for bonsai and is considered very undemanding, apart from its sensitivity to frost.

The tree is therefore often kept as an indoor plant in cooler climates, but can also be kept outdoors from spring to autumn.
