Description

The Aleppo pine (Pinus Halepensis) originates from the Mediterranean region and can reach a total height of up to 25 metres. Pinus Halepensis is considered extremely robust when it comes to heat and drought. Once it has grown in, it can survive for several months without any water. However, it does not tolerate long periods of frost with temperatures below minus 10 degrees Celsius and is therefore less suitable for cultivation in northern Europe. The Aleppo pine needs a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sun and without excessive rainfall or cold. It thrives well on dry slopes, preferably on calcareous or lime-rich soils and near the coast. It occurs from sea level up to 1000 metres above sea level, in some mountain ranges in the south it even reaches 1600 metres. Pinus Halepensis seedlings are also very suitable as a bonsai.
