Description
The Japanese maple (Acer palmatum deshojo) belongs to the maple genus and comes from China, Japan and Korea. It is mainly used as an ornamental plant in gardens and for bonsai design. Compared to the wild green form, the Japanese maple leafless rarely reaches a total height of 5 meters. It grows more like a shrub and less like a typical upright tree. Leafless Japanese maples are somewhat sensitive to soil substrate and watering. A slightly acidic, well-drained soil has given good results in Europe. If possible, water with little lime or even osmosis water should be used for irrigation. The changing color of the foliage throughout the year makes Acer Palmatum Deshojo a real eye-catcher in the garden. The plant starts spring sprouting new chimney red leaves, which change to light green foliage in summer and change back to a not so intense red in autumn.
