Description

Quercus suber is native to the Mediterranean region and can reach a total height of 25 meters and a trunk diameter of 1 meter. The cork oak is not very demanding on soil conditions and can survive heat and long periods of drought well. It is mainly cultivated in southern Europe for cork extraction, as between 100 and 200 kg of cork can be obtained per tree. Acorns from the tree are often used to fatten pigs. About 15-30 kg per tree per year can be harvested.

This tree requires a lot of light and is therefore not suitable for cultivation in dense groves. The tree is very heat-loving and is only winter hardy to a certain extent, but can survive temperatures down to – 5 degrees Celsius. Here are offered young plants with a height of 30-60 cm, which are shipped unpotted.
