Description
The field elm (Ulmus minor) is native to Europe and can grow well both in northern Europe and further south, sometimes as far south as North Africa. The tree can reach a total height of up to 40 meters and a trunk diameter of up to 2 meters. In many areas, specimens can be found that are more than 600 years old.
The field elm can be used both as a solitary tree and as a hedge, as it can also be pruned very well. Even among bonsai enthusiasts, this species is a very popular plant.
